Julian Martinez was 17 when he was fatally shot outside a house party on the 12500 block of Leroy Avenue in Garden Grove, California, on September 10, 2022. The shooting happened late at night; nearby residents, including Julian’s mother Patricia Martinez, heard the gunfire and found him on the ground. Despite efforts to save him, Julian died of his injuries.

The Garden Grove Police Department has classified the death as a homicide and opened an investigation. Family members have publicly suggested the shooting was gang-related; Julian’s sister Desiree said he was a victim of gun violence by vicious gang members.
