Abraham Talamantes, 32, of Phelan, California, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound at an illegal marijuana cultivation site on Sandstone Road on July 6, 2022. Deputies and emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures but Talamantes was pronounced dead at the scene. The property contained a large-scale illegal grow that the Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team subsequently eradicated.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division–Homicide Detail identified 31-year-old Charles Patrick McCluskey, a convicted felon on probation, as the primary suspect; he was arrested on murder and probation violation charges and booked into the Central Detention Center without bail. A 30-year-old Brianna Kingston was arrested as an accessory after the fact and booked with bail set at $200,000. Talamantes was a father of three and is remembered by family as a light-hearted and beautiful soul.

Anybody with information about the killing is asked to come forward to assist investigators.
