Gabriel Victor Joseph Cueva, 26, was shot and killed on May 29, 2022 in the unincorporated Saticoy area of Ventura County. Deputies were called about 5:32 PM to the area of Azahar Street and Alelia Avenue and found Cueva lying face down in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

Investigators identified and arrested an 18-year-old Ventura man, Julius Luna, who was taken into custody in Fresno County on May 31, 2022 and booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. He was charged with murder and held on $1.5 million bail; an arraignment was scheduled for June 2, 2022. The Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants and said it had gathered additional evidence tying Luna to the homicide. The motive and whether Luna knew Cueva were described as unclear.
