Anthony Joshua Fisher, 47, was found with severe gunshot wounds lying in the street on the 2100 block of Seventh Street in Berkeley on March 4, 2022, around 7:09 p.m. Responding officers and the Berkeley Fire Department performed lifesaving measures, but Fisher died at a local hospital. The city recorded this as Berkeley’s first homicide since 2020.
Detectives used video surveillance and witness statements to identify two suspects. On March 8, 2022, 62-year-old Claudell Moore and 54-year-old Dwana Jackson were arrested at a motel in Pinole. Investigators recovered a revolver holster and ammunition in Moore’s clothing and located a vintage Cadillac believed to be the suspect vehicle, hidden under a tarp in Richmond. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Moore with murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and multiple enhancements; Jackson was taken into custody but had not been charged in the latest updates. The shooting was described as not random; no motive has been released.
Did anyone in the Berkeley area see activity around Seventh Street that evening or recognize the vehicle mentioned?
