Kyle Steele, 27, was shot and killed inside a home on South Phillips Street north of Hanford-Armona Road on December 22, 2021. Responding officers performed CPR until medical personnel arrived, but Steele died at the scene from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Investigators arrested two people in connection with the killing. Nineteen-year-old Darrieon Corbert was identified as the primary suspect; he fled to Phoenix, Arizona after the shooting and was located and booked into the Maricopa County Jail pending extradition to Kings County. A 15-year-old was arrested separately and charged as an accessory and held at the Kings County Juvenile Center.
Corbert was charged with murder as the case proceeded and the involvement of a minor added legal complexity. Are there details about Steele’s activities or associates in Hanford around December 22, 2021 that anyone can share?
