Robert Mendoza, 60, of Lincoln, California, was found dead in an embankment in the Spenceville Wildlife Area on November 26, 2021. Initially treated as a suspicious death, investigators later determined Mendoza had died from a gunshot wound and opened a homicide investigation.
Investigators focused on two brothers with ties to Mendoza’s property in Lincoln: Carl Olsen, 59, and Eric Olsen, 61. A search warrant was executed at Mendoza’s home on December 2, 2021. Carl Olsen was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Lincoln and Eric Olsen was arrested at a property on Hungry Hollow Road. Both men were charged with homicide and held without bail in Yuba County Jail.
Reports during the prosecution described a dispute over a stolen gun as the motive; Eric Olsen allegedly struck Mendoza with a billy club and Carl Olsen allegedly shot him before the brothers dumped the body off Spenceville Road. Does anyone have information about Mendoza’s activities or connections in Lincoln that could shed light on what led to the dispute?
