Nicolas B. Archuleta, 23, was shot and killed on November 20, 2021, in Rosamond, California. Deputies found him on the 2500 block of Diamond Street with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the shooting grew out of a dispute involving Archuleta’s girlfriend and another woman, Marcella Madrid, who lived in the same apartment complex. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Demond Anderson, Archuleta and the two women together shortly before shots were fired.

Anderson fled the scene and was at large for over two months before being arrested and charged with murder. Court records indicate he pleaded not guilty initially; later proceedings show he accepted a plea to voluntary manslaughter that led to dismissal of the original murder and assault counts and a 21-year sentence. Madrid faced accessory charges and pleaded no contest, receiving time served.
