Arnulfo Azaam Quintero IV, 26, of Spring Valley, California, was shot and killed on November 3, 2021, around 12:20 p.m. on Troy Street just east of Sweetwater Road and state Route 125. Multiple 911 callers reported gunfire; deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department found Quintero wounded and three bystanders transported him to a hospital. He later died and the Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.

The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit opened an investigation; Lt. Joel Stranger said the probe was in its early stages and that no suspects had been identified in the immediate aftermath. Investigators renewed an appeal for witnesses on November 4, 2021, asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers. Quintero was involved with Paving Great Futures and had completed three years of parole.
