Greg Cirimele, 42, was killed in Campbell, California on November 2, 2021 after a street confrontation on West Sunnyoaks Avenue. Cirimele reportedly waved down a passing vehicle driven by 18-year-old Nickolas James Ammann, then approached the driver’s side and began throwing punches through the window. Ammann fired multiple shots, striking Cirimele twice in the chest; Cirimele died about 45 minutes later at Valley Medical Center.
Ammann was arrested shortly after the shooting at his home about a mile from the scene and was initially charged with murder. He later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter as court proceedings and defense arguments raised questions about whether a murder conviction could be secured given a potential self-defense claim. The plea carried a nine-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after roughly five years, accounting for time already served in county jail.
Family and friends described Cirimele as a beloved father, friend, and community member and criticized the plea as too lenient, noting Ammann was illegally carrying a firearm. Does anyone have additional information about Greg’s activities that day or eyewitness accounts from West Sunnyoaks Avenue?
