After filling out job applications earlier that day, she messaged the friend on Facebook Messenger while walking the final blocks; her last message at 8:25 p.m. said she was walking and not far and asked him to unlock the door. She never arrived at the Summit Street address and was not heard from again.

Le-Shay did not have a data plan and relied on Wi-Fi for messaging, which limited where she could be contacted. Investigators searched the circumstances of her disappearance; the friend she intended to visit was thoroughly investigated and is not considered a suspect. There has been no activity on her social media or credit accounts since she went missing, and the Columbus Division of Police continues the active investigation.
