Michael Alderson, 66, a real estate inspector from Anaheim, was shot and killed on August 7, 2021, outside a home in the 4500 block of Operetta Drive in Huntington Beach. The shooting happened around 11 a.m. as Alderson and two other real estate professionals were approaching the house. The violence grew out of a family dispute over the pending sale of the property, which had been in the family after the death of Victor Nemeth in August 2018 without a will.
The suspect, who was living in the home, suffered a superficial gunshot wound and surrendered to police. He was identified as Roger Nemeth and was charged with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder. Two other victims — relatives of Nemeth — were hospitalized and expected to recover. Neighbors had reported a For Sale sign being repeatedly set up and torn down in the front yard, reflecting the ongoing conflict within the family.
If anyone knew Michael Alderson, the other victims, or details about the family dispute over the house, please share information that could help clarify what happened.
