I recently came across a detail from the investigation into Kylin Baca-Fullmer's tragic death that really got me thinking. It's unsettling to realize how reliant we are on technology in such cases, but in this instance, ShotSpotter may have been a crucial turning point. The fact that 13 shots were detected by that system the night Kylin was killed is chilling. It's a grim reminder of the pervasive gun violence many communities face daily. As someone following the case, I can't help but commend the use of technology that helps capture such crimes in real time. Still, my heart goes out to Kylin's family and friends, as they have to endure the pain of knowing so much about his final moments. The investigation could have been much harder without that early notification, but it's devastating that this level of violence is something that has to be monitored so closely. I hope this case continues to shed light on the necessity for community safety measures and the fight against gang-related violence.
