Noah David Shepherd, a 29-year-old pastor from Lemon Grove, California, was killed on July 12, 2021. His wife, Gabriella, called 911 that evening saying she had shot someone she believed was an intruder trying to enter their backyard; responders transported Shepherd to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy found multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Gabriella Shepherd was arrested on suspicion of murder and held without bail at the Las Colinas Detention Facility; her arraignment was scheduled the Thursday after the incident.
