Jacob Matthew Nevin, 33, of Oroville, California, was found unresponsive in his car on the morning of June 29, 2021, after being shot in the abdomen while sitting in a gravel parking lot near Myers and D Streets. He drifted off the road after attempting to drive away and was later discovered near Lincoln Boulevard and Pearl Street. Jacob was a devoted family man who enjoyed camping, dirt biking, loud music, and was a Los Angeles Rams fan. He is survived by his mother Dianna Nevin, his fiancée Audrey Walker, and their two sons, Matthew and A.J.

Oroville Police say the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery that had been arranged by Shelby Beaulieu, who agreed to meet Jacob for prostitution. Andrew Lockner and Lester Reed allegedly confronted Jacob at the car; a shot was fired during the confrontation. Witness testimony and security footage were cited in the investigation, and Lockner, Reed, and Beaulieu were arrested and charged. Lockner later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and admitted using a firearm, receiving a 21-year term; Reed and Beaulieu pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and received shorter sentences. If anyone knew Jacob or has information about the events that morning, please share what you remember.
