Jessic Clayton Robiere, a 30-year-old British citizen who had been living in Truckee, was found dead on June 16, 2021, inside a residence on Bodie Ridge Road in Nevada City, California. He had multiple gunshot wounds and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office identified him after notifying his family in the United Kingdom. Robiere’s death was classified as a homicide and investigators opened a criminal inquiry.

Authorities identified 34-year-old Nevada City resident Zachery Isaiah Minissale as the primary suspect after tracing his license plate to the Bodie Ridge Road address. Minissale was linked to the home and was involved the same day in a separate incident in Nevada that included shooting and wounding a public transportation worker, a vehicle pursuit, and a later shootout with Eureka County sheriff’s deputies in which Minissale was killed. Investigators found a Smith & Wesson .45-caliber revolver on Minissale but did not disclose whether it was the weapon used to kill Robiere. Reports say Minissale and Robiere knew each other; motive and full circumstances remained unclear.
