Edward Tin Kwan, 23, was found dead in his Diamond Bar home on May 21, 2021, the victim of both gunshot and stab wounds. His mother, 55-year-old Loretta Ho, was also killed; deputies from the sheriff’s Walnut Station discovered both bodies after responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the Kiowa Crest residence.
Investigators identified Edward’s older brother, 28-year-old Eric Kwan, as the primary suspect. Eric, who did not live with them, was arrested soon after and booked on two counts of murder with additional allegations for use of deadly weapons; authorities say a knife and a gun were used. He was held on $2 million bail and scheduled for arraignment June 17, 2021, at the Pomona courthouse. He pleaded not guilty as proceedings moved forward.
The motive has not been made clear and questions remain about what led to such a violent attack in the family home. If anyone knew Edward or Loretta, or has information about the events that night, please come forward.
