Ramon Sulee Gomez, 36, was fatally shot the evening of January 18, 2021 near 8129 Arroyo Drive in South San Gabriel. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene; the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner‑Coroner listed cause of death as a gunshot wound.

Investigators identified a suspect and, on January 25, 2021, arrested 30-year-old Filipe Sanchez of El Monte during a traffic stop in Baldwin Park on suspicion of murder. Sanchez was charged with first-degree murder and the prosecution has been assembling evidence and witness testimony while the defense challenges those claims.
