Causandra Inocencio, 40, was shot and killed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Milpitas, California, on October 10, 2020. Officers responded about 10:16 p.m. to a report of a shooting and found Inocencio with a gunshot wound; she was taken to a nearby hospital but died of her injuries.
The primary suspect was identified as 35-year-old Kevin James Gitmed of Gilroy. He and Inocencio had previously been in a relationship, and she had filed for a protective order alleging harassment and stalking. After the shooting a manhunt sought Gitmed, who was described as armed and dangerous; Mothers Against Murder offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
On October 14, 2020, Gitmed was found dead in a hotel room in Merced County after law enforcement tracked him to the location and entered when he failed to respond to commands; the circumstances of his death were under investigation. Inocencio is remembered as a devoted mother of two, a friend who made people laugh, and someone who sold handmade knitted blankets online.
Did anyone know Causandra or have information about her relationship with Gitmed that could shed light on what happened?
