Enrique Becerra, 67, was shot and killed on September 17, 2020, in Newman, California. He was leaving his home on T Street early that morning to go to work when he was shot multiple times; one shot struck him in the head and proved fatal.

Authorities say the motive was a personal dispute. Julio Cesar Zaragoza-Romero, 46, believed Becerra, a co-worker, had been having an affair with his wife. Julio called Merced County dispatchers to confess and surrender, and during that call implicated his older brother, Francisco Hernandez-Romero, 49. Francisco was arrested at his workplace. Both men were charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.
