Terron Jammal Boone, 31, was killed on June 17, 2020, in Rosamond, California, during an exchange of gunfire with Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies who were attempting to arrest him on charges that included kidnapping, spousal assault, and assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit had stopped a vehicle driven by a woman with Boone and a 7-year-old girl as passengers. Authorities say Boone opened the passenger door and fired a semiautomatic handgun at deputies; deputies returned fire and struck Boone multiple times. The driver was also hit but survived, and the child was unharmed.

Boone had been charged the day before his death with multiple offenses including assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, domestic violence, and criminal threats. His death was reported in the same period as that of his half-brother, Robert Fuller, whose June 10, 2020, death by hanging in Palmdale prompted family and community demands for an independent investigation. No arrests beyond the deputies at the scene were reported; an internal Sheriff’s Department review of the shooting was conducted and the family, represented by attorney Jamon Hicks, requested privacy.
