Edgar Alejandro Villa Valencia, 22, was shot and killed on April 30, 2020, during a gathering of several vehicles near Thomes Creek in the Richfield area north of Corning, California. The shooting happened around 8 p.m. along Highway 99W. Friends rushed Edgar to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Red Bluff, where he later died of gunshot wounds to the torso.
Also killed that evening was 20-year-old Juan Manuel Valencia Vargas, whose body was found about 200 yards from the scene in the creek bed; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives processed the area and followed a blood trail to locate Juan Manuel. The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office opened a double homicide investigation; no arrests were made immediately.
A few days after the shooting, investigators identified 27-year-old Roberto Valencia as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with murder. Law enforcement asked the public for help locating him. Did anyone see activity near Thomes Creek on the night of April 30, 2020, or have information that could help investigators?
