Valentin Aparicio, 36, of Hesperia, California, was shot to death on March 30, 2020. San Bernardino County deputies found him in a disabled truck that had veered into the bushes on the 16500 block of Fir Street; he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives said the shooting was linked to a dispute over stolen drugs. Detectives identified 47-year-old Jason Maston as a suspect and allege Aparicio went to Maston’s home to confront him about the stolen drugs, a confrontation that escalated into a gunfight during which Aparicio was struck multiple times. Maston was arrested April 14, 2020, on suspicion of murder and was booked with $1 million bail.
