Ronisha Cook, 33, was fatally shot around midnight on December 19, 2019, while sitting in a vehicle in the 500 block of Ellis Street in San Francisco. Witnesses saw a vehicle flee the scene after the shooting. Police found Cook unresponsive and performed CPR until an ambulance arrived; she died shortly after being taken to hospital.
Investigators identified and arrested four suspects in late October 2020: Derrick Sessions, 28; Gary Owens, 39; Robert Huntley, 31; and Tyjone Flournoy, 23. The arrests were made in San Francisco and Antioch, and the suspects were charged with murder and related offenses. At trial, Gary Owens was convicted of second-degree murder, found to have personally used a firearm and fired at an occupied vehicle; he was also convicted of attempted murder for injuries not inflicted on the driver.
Cook was remembered as a mother of two young children and an active member of her community. Does anyone have information about that night or knew Cook and can help fill in what happened?
