Billy Vang, 48, of Hayfork, California, was found dead at his home on December 4, 2019, after Trinity County deputies and medical personnel responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting. Vang had suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the chest and head. A Ruger semi-automatic pistol was given to authorities by a family member at the scene, who said an argument had taken place between Billy and his wife, Kay Chue Vang.
Kay Chue Vang, 52 at the time, was arrested on suspicion of homicide and told investigators she shot Billy after he allegedly attempted to kill her. The family member present said they disarmed her and unloaded the weapon before deputies arrived; Kay reportedly threatened to take her own life after the shooting. Reports describe a tumultuous relationship with frequent arguments, and the case raised contested claims about whether the killing was an act of self-defense or a deliberate, premeditated act.
Does anyone have direct knowledge of the Vangs, their relationship, or the events of that night who can share details with investigators?
