Omar Taylor Jr. was 24 when he was killed at an Airbnb Halloween party in Orinda, California on October 31, 2019. He was working as the event DJ and was a father to a three-year-old daughter. The rental had been advertised on social media as an "Airbnb Mansion Party" and drew over 100 people despite the owner’s 12-person limit. Gunfire at the gathering left five people dead, including Taylor, and two firearms were recovered at the scene.

Investigators from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI treated the shooting as a criminal investigation. The renter had falsely claimed a need to escape Kincade Fire smoke, which was cited as the reason for booking the home. Authorities worked to contact many party-goers who fled; ultimately five men were arrested in connection with the incident. Airbnb offered to cover funeral costs and counseling, though some families declined the help.

Taylor was remembered by family and friends as kind and ambitious, having worked at Tesla before becoming a full-time musician; he also performed to support his daughter. Does anyone who attended or knew people at that party have information that could help clarify what happened that night?
