Tyrel Truss, 20, of Fresno was shot and killed on September 26, 2019, during what investigators say was a robbery arranged through online contact. Truss drove to Mendota to meet a woman he had been communicating with; that woman, identified as Alexa Ramos, had moved recently from Sioux City to the area and allegedly asked Truss for a ride to Firebaugh. Ramos was accompanied by three people named in reports as Isaac Helms, Precious Green, and Hannah Haywood.
Isaac Helms, 18, shot Truss; the vehicle then struck a parked car on Cardella Street in Firebaugh. Truss was found dead in his car from a gunshot wound. Firebaugh officers detained the occupants at the scene and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation.
All four were arrested and charged with murder and each was booked with $1 million bail. Investigators have reported obtaining some confessions and prosecutors have said the felony murder rule could be applied depending on each person’s role. The family, including Truss’ mother Brenda Beard and his daughter Sophia, remains vocal about seeking justice.
If anyone knew Tyrel, his movements that day, or saw the vehicle on Cardella Street, please share what was seen or heard.
