Daniel Venegas, 29, of Cathedral City was shot and killed on August 18, 2019, in the early evening. The shooting happened on Aliso Road between Avenida Juarez and Avenida Del Yermo; residents reported hearing multiple gunshots and the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau recorded the shots at 6:46 p.m. First responders found Venegas severely injured and firefighters performed life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead shortly before 7 p.m.

This was one of two separate homicides in Cathedral City within about six hours; the other victim, Alberto Rafael Sosa Alvarez, was found with gunshot wounds around 12:50 a.m. the following day. Police have not linked the incidents.
