Deandre LeJames Valrie, 25, was shot and killed in Lompoc, California, on July 1, 2019. The shooting happened around midnight in the 600 block of North Fourth Street; Valrie was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and died after being taken to the hospital. Witnesses described the shooter as a Hispanic male wearing all black who rode up on a bicycle and fired several shots into the vehicle where Valrie was seated.
Valrie’s death was counted as the fifth homicide in Lompoc since March 2019. Family members remembered him as a mama’s boy with a contagious smile; a memorial of candles, flowers and mementos was placed across from his childhood bedroom window. The Lompoc Police Department says the investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been announced, and the motive remains unclear.
If anyone has information about the shooting or the man on the bicycle, please contact the Lompoc Police Department.
