Gilberto Serna, 41, was shot and killed in the front yard of his Cutler, California, home on June 5, 2019. An autopsy performed June 11, 2019, concluded he died from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Investigators later linked the killing to a broader gang probe. On February 4, 2020, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit announced arrests in Operation Stray Bullet: 27-year-old Edward Moran, 19-year-old Cristian Bravo, and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody and accused in connection with Serna’s death. Authorities have not disclosed a motive.
