Eduardo Rufino Arredondo, a 32-year-old Latino man, was fatally shot on the evening of April 23, 2019, in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood of Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner recorded the cause of death as a gunshot wound; despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
Initial reports suggested the shooting might have been gang-related, but investigators did not find conclusive evidence tying the case to gang activity. Investigative efforts were hampered by a lack of witnesses and community reluctance to come forward. Authorities later identified and arrested a suspect after raids and undercover operations; that person was charged with murder and related offenses, and a trial followed in which the jury returned a guilty verdict and the defendant received a lengthy prison term.
Anyone who knew Eduardo, saw activity in Florence-Firestone around April 23, 2019, or has information that could shed light on the circumstances is asked to come forward.
