Darren Partch, 38, was found dead on April 21, 2019, in his Newport Beach condominium. His roommate returned home from a weekend trip to discover Partch and an unknown woman, later identified as Wendi Miller, lying in a pool of blood in Partch’s bedroom; both had been shot at close range. Police recovered four .38-caliber bullets at the scene but found no weapon, and the victims showed no signs of defensive wounds. Reports say the scene suggested the two were engaged in an intimate moment when they were attacked.

Investigators traced the killings to Jamon Rayon Buggs, 47, of Huntington Beach. Buggs was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder; authorities said he believed Partch was involved with his ex-girlfriend and had threatened Partch beforehand. Cell phone data placed Buggs at Partch’s residence multiple times, including the night of the shootings. Buggs was also convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon and attempted first-degree burglary, with an enhancement for personally discharging a firearm causing death.

Partch’s family described him as a sweet and loving person with no known conflicts. Does anyone have information about Darren’s life in Newport Beach or the days leading up to April 21, 2019?
