Jose Vasquez, 18, was found shot to death on the morning of February 26, 2019, on the side of E. Springfield Avenue just west of Fowler Avenue near Fowler, California. A school bus driver discovered his body around 7:15 a.m.; Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified him as a Selma resident. Vasquez had been shot multiple times and was left in a rural area surrounded by farmland and almond trees.

Investigators concluded he was likely shot at that location rather than moved there, noting the body had not been concealed and suggesting the perpetrators fled quickly. Detectives searched the area for clues and worked to trace Vasquez’s last movements and any possible conflicts, but the remote setting and lack of witnesses have hindered progress.

No arrests or suspects have been announced and the case remains open. Did anyone in Fowler or the surrounding areas see or hear anything that morning or know of conflicts Jose Vasquez may have had?
