Victoria May Aless Seidlinger, 61, was found shot to death at her Aptos home on Trout Gulch Road in unincorporated Santa Cruz County on January 30, 2019. Deputies responding to a reported shooting discovered Seidlinger deceased and two other people with serious injuries; two firearms had been discharged during the incident and all three lived at the same address.

Investigators identified 36-year-old Patrick Aaron Collins, who lived with Seidlinger, as the primary suspect. Collins was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder shortly after the shooting; he had a gunshot wound, was hospitalized, and later booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail with bail set at $750,000. Reports indicate Collins and another person fired weapons during the altercation, and Seidlinger’s estranged husband, who lived in a separate unit on the property, suffered stab wounds. The Sheriff’s Office said Seidlinger did not harm anyone.

Anyone who knew Victoria, Patrick Collins, or who witnessed activity at the Trout Gulch Road property around January 30, 2019 is asked to come forward with information.
