Alejandra Claudia Hernandez was 24 and a Covina resident when she was shot and killed on January 12, 2019, in the West Valinda area of La Puente. She was visiting a home on Glenshaw Drive around 12:50 p.m. when an unidentified man described only as a Latino entered the residence and opened fire. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1 p.m.; the Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.

Hernandez had been engaged to the father of her children and had started a new job with the YMCA of Orange County in August 2018. Despite an active social media presence, investigators have not determined a motive. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was investigating and no suspects or arrests had been announced.
