I keep thinking about those little boys, Jordan and Anthony. Growing up without their dad is something no child should ever have to experience. Michael was taken from them far too soon. It's tragic that his life was cut short due to gang violence, something that seems so senseless when you think about the human cost. I can’t imagine the questions they’ll have as they get older, about who their father was and what happened on that night. The community seems to have really come together in the aftermath, which is heartening. Vigil after vigil, it’s clear how deeply Michael was loved. I hope the police can find the answers that are needed to bring some peace to his family and to those two boys who deserve to know that justice was sought for their father. It’s frustrating to hear there haven’t been any arrests yet, but I hold onto hope that someone somewhere knows something and will come forward. Such a reminder for us all about the important role we play in breaking the silence around violence.
