On July 2, 2018, 51-year-old Calixto Ramirez was found dead from gunshot wounds in a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck on the Ridgewood Grade near Willits, California. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol officers and local firefighters had responded to a report of a vehicle blocking traffic and discovered Ramirez deceased in the vehicle; his son, Miguel Angel Ramirez Davila, was critically injured and later died in a Santa Rosa hospital two days later.
Investigators quickly identified 23-year-old Ubaldo Ramirez Davila, a son of Calixto and brother of Miguel, as the primary suspect. He was arrested the next day in Covelo after tips led officers to a parking lot where he was taken into custody without incident. Ubaldo later admitted to shooting his father and brother while sitting in the backseat of the pickup, saying the killings followed a sudden quarrel; he was charged with voluntary manslaughter.
The killings devastated the family and the local community. If anyone knew the victims, their movements that day, or has information about the circumstances in the truck, please share what you know.
