Emilio Gerardo Enriquez Almanza was a 15-year-old from Tracy, California, who was killed in a shooting on June 14, 2018. The shooting occurred near the railroad tracks on West Sixth Street after an altercation at the dead end of Sixth Street. Four other boys or young men were wounded with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emilio was born October 30, 2002, and was raised by his grandmother, Margarita Perez, who had cared for him since he was one year old. The community held a candlelight vigil and the family set up a GoFundMe campaign after his death; Perez described their close bond. Investigators said shots had been fired in the area a few days earlier and that Emilio was not believed to have been the intended target. Four individuals were later arrested in connection with the shooting, but no further details were released because of juvenile privacy laws.
