Daniel Hernandez was 24 and a resident of Brawley, California, when he was killed on May 30, 2018. Known in his community as Boogah, he was active in local sports and close to his family. Around 6 p.m. he was at the Filco gas station on Main Street when gunfire erupted; officers found him outside the station and he died at the scene. A 17-year-old was also injured in the same shooting.
Brawley Police investigators described the attack as targeted. Early interviews and evidence collection did not immediately produce a suspect, and the case remained unsolved for a period while investigators pursued leads and worked with other agencies. The loss deeply affected the community and Hernandez’s family, who sought answers and justice.
If anyone was at the Filco gas station that evening or has information about the shooting, please come forward to help the ongoing investigation.
