Salvatore Riccobono IV, 29, of Loleta, California, was found dead on April 23, 2018, on U.S. Highway 101 near Salmon Creek. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office says he died of multiple gunshot wounds; his body was discovered after being struck by a vehicle, but those wounds preceded the collision. It is unclear how his body came to be on the highway and whether he was alive when the vehicle struck him.
Riccobono, originally from Concord and the owner of NorCal Extracts in Sacramento, was living in Humboldt County at the time. His 1998 gold Infinity SUV was recovered in Eureka on April 27, 2018, after a citizen tip. His 9mm pistol has not been recovered. The CHP is handling the traffic collision inquiry while the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the homicide; no arrests have been announced.
Anyone with information about Riccobono’s death, his missing firearm, or movements in the days before April 23 is asked to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
