Rocio Sandoval, 38, of Rancho Cucamonga, was shot on the night of February 9, 2018, while sitting in a parked car on West McKinley Avenue in Azusa. She and a male friend had a brief conversation with a man who then began firing into the vehicle. Sandoval was struck in the head and died at a hospital on February 11, 2018; the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators later identified the shooter as 43-year-old Miguel Angel Prieto of Long Beach. Authorities say Prieto was allegedly searching for his ex-wife’s boyfriend that night and mistakenly targeted Sandoval and her friend. Prieto was arrested after a separate killing in April 2018 and was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder; he is being held without bail at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles and faces prosecution by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
What information do readers have about Sandoval’s last movements that night or about anyone who may have seen the car on West McKinley Avenue?
