Silverio Tapia, 26, of Orange Cove, California, was shot and killed on January 18, 2018. Police responded about 6:30 PM to the 800 block of Celaya Street and found Tapia with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene after fire personnel arrived. Fresno County Sheriff’s homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit took over the investigation.

Detectives say Tapia and two friends were outside a home when three men approached and opened fire. The shooters fled immediately and have not been apprehended. Investigators are treating the incident as a possible gang-related shooting, though Tapia was a farm worker with no criminal history. No arrests have been made and the case remains open.
