David Bledsoe was 26 when he was found dead in his Chico apartment on the 1500 block of North Cherry Street on November 9, 2017. Officers from the Chico Police Department discovered that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound; an autopsy confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound and the case was classified as a homicide.

In the days after the discovery investigators pursued leads and collected evidence but made no immediate arrests. The department issued public appeals for anyone with information to come forward.
