I’ve been following the Curtis McDaniel case and I'm still struck by how one wrong decision on that tragic night led to such a devastating loss. Something I’ve been wondering about is how Curtis’s son is coping with all of this, knowing that his gang connections led to such a tragedy for his own family. It must be an unimaginable burden, feeling indirect responsibility for what happened, even if he had nothing to do with the event itself. This just goes to show the ripple effect of gang violence and how it hurts so many people who aren’t even involved. My heart goes out to Curtis’s family and anyone caught up in these senseless acts. It makes you wonder what can be done to prevent similar situations in our communities.
