Florencio Ramirez, a 44-year-old Latino, was shot and killed on August 19, 2017, in the Florence-Firestone area of South Los Angeles. The shooting happened about 12:45 a.m. while Ramirez and a female friend rode bicycles a few blocks from his home. A parked car drove up and someone inside opened fire; bullets struck Ramirez, his friend, and another woman who was walking nearby. All three were taken to a hospital; Ramirez was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m., and the two women were treated and released.
Investigators describe the car as having been lying in wait and believe the attack was gang-related because Ramirez was a documented gang member. No arrests have been made and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says the case remains unsolved. The investigation has been hindered by a lack of cooperation from potential witnesses, according to the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
Does anyone have information about that night or recall seeing a parked car or people in the area around 12:45 a.m. on August 19, 2017?
