Miguel Angel Mauri, 29, was shot and killed on the night of June 17, 2017, at the HK Food Store at 1220 E. Sixth St. in Ontario, California. The Ontario Police Department reports the shooting happened just before 10 p.m.; paramedics took Mauri to a nearby hospital where he died shortly afterward. He is remembered as a father and husband.
Initial police work did not immediately identify a suspect or a motive, leaving the community without answers. By August 2018, several arrests had been made in connection with the killing: Christopher Ladale Easley, 46, of Pomona; Damone Lee Rodgers, 44, of San Bernardino; and Troy Demetris Lewis, 43, of Ontario. Delores Rodgers, also known as Delores Harris, 60, of San Bernardino, was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory and later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor accessory charges and received three years probation. The defendants pleaded not guilty and were scheduled for further court proceedings in West Valley Superior Court in Rancho Cucamonga.
No specific motive has been disclosed. Did anyone in the area see activity at the HK Food Store that night or have information about Mauri’s movements beforehand?
