Camilo Moreno Jr., 27, of Hanford, California, was fatally shot on the evening of May 17, 2017. Hanford police found him slumped over in the driver’s seat of his silver Lincoln Navigator, which was still running, after responding to reports of shots fired near Centennial Park. Investigators recovered several spent shell casings at the scene and noted a separate shooting had occurred nearby shortly before Moreno was killed, and detectives described the incident as likely gang-related.
The case remained unsolved for years while investigators pursued leads and gathered evidence. In December 2020 authorities arrested 28-year-old Luis Castillo and booked him into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of homicide; investigators said the killing was linked to a criminal street gang. Few public details about the shooting itself have been released.
Did anyone in the Hanford area witness activity near Centennial Park that night or have information about armed groups operating nearby?
