Roderick Donell Totton was 18 when he was shot and killed at a party on Tinker Drive in Rocklin on May 12, 2017. Deputies responding to reports of gunfire found Totton with a gunshot wound; he was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center and later died. The gathering had been heavily promoted on social media and was described as chaotic, with numerous attendees present.

Investigators reported significant challenges: despite many potential witnesses, there were no immediate suspect descriptions and officials said cooperation from attendees was limited, which complicated efforts to identify the shooter. Totton had been arrested two weeks earlier, on April 29, 2017, in Elk Grove for possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm; that arrest was not reported as directly connected to the shooting. No arrests had been announced and the investigation remained active.

Does anyone who attended that Rocklin party or has information about the events on Tinker Drive that night have details to share?
