Yancy Dayanara Alachan-Cruz, 42, was killed in Huntington Park, California, in the early hours of April 2, 2017. She had spent the night at the Margarita Jones nightclub on Pacific Boulevard and left about 2 a.m. Riding with three friends, the vehicle stopped at a red light at Clarendon Avenue when a dark-colored car pulled up beside them and someone inside began shooting into their car. Alachan-Cruz, seated in the front passenger seat, was struck in the head and later pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m.
The driver suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm, one back-seat passenger had grazing wounds to the head and leg, and another rear passenger was uninjured. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau investigated but had not identified a motive, a shooter or a suspect vehicle, and no arrests were announced. Friends and community members raised funds to repatriate her body to Honduras.
Does anyone have information about Yancy’s case or recall seeing a dark-colored vehicle near Pacific Boulevard and Clarendon Avenue that night?
