Kristen Michele Goldsberry, 39, was killed on March 28, 2017, on a rural property near Back Canyon Road and Caliente Creek Road in Caliente, California. The fatal shooting followed an argument between Goldsberry and 33-year-old Cori Cotton, who pulled out a gun and shot Goldsberry at least once. Cotton also fired at Goldsberry’s boyfriend, who escaped without injury.

Cotton’s boyfriend, 56-year-old Bret Stroud, was on the property along with another man identified as Goldsberry’s boyfriend. Detectives served a search warrant at Cotton and Stroud’s residence, recovered multiple firearms, and later located Goldsberry’s body in a shallow grave on the property. The Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity.
