It's been a few years since that awful night in Orange Cove, yet the impact of Alex and Javier's deaths still resonates within the community. I can't shake off the thought of those poor kids who stumbled upon the scene. It must have been terrifying and bewildering for them. It's a sad reminder of how violence disrupts lives in so many indirect ways. My heart goes out to the friends and families of Alex and Javier, who continue to live with this pain, and to those young witnesses who had their innocence shattered that evening. I hope they’ve been offered the support they need to process such a traumatic experience. The resilience of this community is inspiring, though, coming together to support one another and demanding justice. Let’s continue to bring attention to this case and support efforts that seek to prevent further tragedies like this.
I’ve been following the tragic case of Alex Esquivel and Javier Lizaola, and I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible strength of their families during such a difficult time.
